A photograph shows something different from a written report or an everyday object. In the display, pay attention to who made the source and what the accompanying information says about it. That helps you to approach the history of a care institution carefully.
A thread through the institutions
The museum’s own information describes a timeline running through various institutions in Drenthe. Use it to get your bearings, and look at which changes the display explains with concrete objects or documents.
Explanations from former staff
According to GGZ Drenthe, former employees work at the museum as volunteers. That gives you the opportunity to ask about the origin of an object or the explanation of a photograph. Their explanations can help to place objects and photographs in their historical context.
Before you go
The museum is in the attic of De Dobbe. It is regularly open on the first Wednesday of the month; large groups make an appointment in advance.
