Michielreclame: shops full of design in Hoogeveen

Under the name Museum Hoogeveen, Michielreclame presents a collection of nostalgic little shops and advertising. The visit is a small-scale guided tour by appointment.

A focus on packaging

Tins for coffee, tea, cocoa and cigars are mentioned among the items on offer. Look at the lettering, imagery and colour: packaging had to both keep something and catch the eye.

A whole shop interior

The displays described include a chemist’s, a hairdresser’s and a cigar shop. This places an advertising sign in a setting instead of on its own on a museum wall.

The collector explains

The organisation offers a guided tour with a limited number of participants. When booking, say what interests you, for example enamel signs, neon or a particular type of shop.

Before you go

By appointment only, with a maximum of eight visitors. The published time slots are options for a booking, not open visiting times.
