The collection description mentions family portraits, landscapes and clocks. Look at how they have been incorporated into the rooms. Their placement can raise different questions from the same objects shown separately in a display case.
Explanations in the coach house
The permanent exhibition deals with havezate rights (havezaterecht). That provides context for a concept not everyone is familiar with. Start there if you first want to understand what the museum’s name means.
With a guided tour
Guided tours give you the chance to look at the house and its contents together. Ask in advance about availability and accessible routes; not all parts of the floors can be reached by lift.
Before you go
Check temporary closures, including around the Rodermarkt. The cellar and the raised room (opkamer) can only be reached by stairs.
