The museum describes Frisian silverware, geological collections and archaeological finds. These subjects call for different ways of looking: at decoration and use, at rock, or at the information surrounding a find site. You can structure your afternoon visit around these differences.
Stories from the ground
According to the organisation, the archaeology centre (archeologisch steunpunt) covers topics including hunting, building and early farming. With a find, read not only its name but also how the display connects the object with a way of life. That makes the regional angle concrete.
The evening has its own programme
The observatory organises public evenings with opportunities to use the telescope in clear weather and a digital planetarium. That is a separate time to visit alongside the daytime museum hours. Observing outdoors depends on the weather; a planetarium offers a different form of explanation.
