Heavy material, small details
The museum website mentions sarcophagi and gravestones of red sandstone. A sarcophagus is a stone coffin. Besides the overall shape, look at how the surface has been worked: a small detail in particular can help you look at the explanations in a more focused way.
Objects with different functions
A baptismal font, a holy water stoup and a choir screen belong to different parts of a church. If you do not know the terms, you can start from the function in the explanations: what was the object used for, and where did it belong?
The church as a setting
Because the collection is shown in a church, you can look at object and space together. Ask which pieces belong to this church and which come from elsewhere. That way, the place where something stands now does not automatically seem to be its original location.
Before you go
Regular visits are offered on Saturdays from April to September. According to the museum, other times and guided tours are possible by appointment.
