Van Oost en West
The permanent display ‘Van Oost en West’ (From East and West) traces exchange between Asia, the Middle East and Europe. Look for a form or decoration that changed along the way: that is exactly how a display case becomes more than a series of separate objects.
Much more than tableware
The research card mentions around 35,000 objects, including Chinese porcelain, Dutch art nouveau and art deco, and a sculpture by Karel Appel. Not everything is on display at the same time; choose one material or technique as your own common thread.
Residents of the palace
Displays about Maria Louise and M.C. Escher link the collection to the building complex. Notice the transitions between city palace, fortified stone house (stins), former warehouse and riding school: the site itself is also made up of different historical layers.
