Lemmer by the water
The display covers cargo shipping, Baltic trade, shipbuilding, fishing and Lemsteraken. Do not look at ship models or tools in isolation; ask what work on board, at the shipyard or on shore they were linked to.
Chip carving and daily life
A collection of Lemmer chip-carved pottery (kerfsnede) and a period room from around 1920 set domestic use alongside the maritime story. Notice the incised patterns, then imagine an object back in its place in the furnished room.
End of the current form
The information supplied states that the Oudheidkamer will close permanently on 1 October 2026 at 17.00. The collection is intended for a new visitor centre; a planned opening is not yet a current opportunity to visit.
