A store for the fire pump
The little building was used to store firefighting equipment. Look at the doorway and interior with a practical question in mind: how quickly could people get a pump, hoses and other equipment outside when every minute counted?
Pump, water and hoses
The research card describes hand pumps, water wells and canvas hoses that had to dry. Together these parts show a chain of finding water, pumping, transporting it and making the equipment ready for use again afterwards.
A freely accessible monument
The Brandspuithuuske has no ticket desk or regular weekly schedule and is freely accessible. So treat this small site as a heritage stop on a walk, not as a museum with staff and continuous explanation.
