Comparing birds
The mounted birds are shown in panoramas, making species comparable side by side. Choose, for example, the shape of the beak, leg or wing as a feature and cautiously link the difference to food or habitat, using the museum text as your guide.
More than feathers
Fish and mammals broaden the picture of nature. By looking at animals from water, land and air together, you can see that the surroundings of Piaam consist of several connected habitats.
Waarden and geese
The research card mentions explanations of the waarden, the land outside the dyke after the Afsluitdijk, and of overwintering geese. Use this as preparation for looking outside; the museum visit is no substitute for a current nature excursion.

There is no walk-in access: visits are possible on request only. The website also contains older calendar information and sources give two house numbers, so confirm the location.
