Objects in Museum Dokkum
The permanent display in Dokkum lists archaeological finds, monastery bricks (kloostermoppen), slate, everyday objects and coins from the monastery site. See these objects as fragments: together they reconstruct the functions of a vanished complex.
No museum in Rinsumageest any more
The visitor centre on the Klaarkampsterwei closed on 1 November 2021. If you travel there, you will therefore not find a regularly open museum display; for the collection, Museum Dokkum is the current place to visit.
The site on an excursion
Stichting Klooster Klaarkamp organises opportunities to explore the former site. Such a walk calls for a different way of looking: relief, soil and place names take the place of a building’s walls and display cases.
Before you go
Do not go to Klaarkampsterwei 6 for a regular museum visit. For Museum Dokkum, check its own current opening times, and book a site excursion separately.
