The local history room
A portrait, box bed, bookcase and a small kitchen area set books alongside a domestic setting. First look at the room as a whole, then choose an object that tells you something about writing, reading or daily life.
Books in their setting
The bookcase holds novels and works in Frisian. On a guided tour, ask which editions have a demonstrable link with the house; the research card does not make the exact provenance of every book clear.
Garden and writer’s hut
Old copper beeches, a pond and a writer’s hut are mentioned in the garden. Do not see this spot merely as a backdrop: quiet, light and distance from the house may explain why a separate workplace was attractive.
