Reading the tower
Thick walls, small openings and a vertical structure give clues about protection and habitation. Look at the construction first before using a date; the research card mentions both ‘thirteenth century’ and ‘around 1300’.
Space inside a stins
A fortified stone house had to provide access, living space and storage at the same time. Note the stairs, passages and floor area and ask which functions could have been located on the different levels.
Changing exhibitions
Art, history and culture are given space in temporary exhibitions. Check the subject before you set off: it determines whether your visit centres mainly on the building, regional history or contemporary work.
