Four routes through the castle
Stairs built into the walls and rooms make height and defence tangible. Choose one route and pay attention to sightlines, door width and the connection between living and service rooms.
Brewing in the cellar
An excavated medieval brewing oven places food production within the castle. Ask which parts were found original and which have been added for explanation.
Piecing shards back together
Moat finds are examined in the lab and reconstructed on a magnetic wall. Compare the sherd's edge, glaze and fracture line, and see how much is missing.
Before you go
The confirmed main schedule applies April–October; winter Sundays appear only in external reports. The lab has limited volunteer hours.
