Pumping for dry feet
Follow steam power via the cylinder and drive mechanism to the pumps. Ask what water level and capacity were needed and how operation was controlled.
Loeffen engines
The engine museum shows stationary engines and hot-air engines from about 1900 onwards. Compare fuel, ignition and flywheel with the steam system.
Steam weekend
On announced steam weekends, more machinery runs. Ask for the next date: being regularly open does not mean the pumping station or the engines are under steam.
Before you go
The engine museum has more limited hours than the pumping station. The Museumkaart (Dutch museum pass) is not valid; groups of fifteen or more can arrange visits year-round.
