From device to network
A telephone on a desk is only one part of a connection. By looking at the devices alongside other telecom equipment, it becomes interesting to ask what lay behind a call and what actions were needed to make it happen.
An Arnhem perspective
The collection is linked to the former Arnhem–Nijmegen telephone district. Photos and documentation supplement the technical objects. The museum is run by former employees, which gives the work around telephony its own place in the visit.
Mind the stairs
Telefan is housed in part of a telephone exchange on the Singravenlaan. The museum space is on the second floor, reached by around 45 steps. There is no lift; that is a significant limitation for visitors who have difficulty walking.
Before you go
The museum lists Tuesday as its visiting day. Contact them in advance and bear the stairs in mind.
