Looking up close
Embroidery lends itself to slow looking. Choose a small part of a piece and follow how the stitches build up a shape together. Then you can compare how a different pattern or thread changes the surface.
Two kinds of handicraft
Alongside the embroidery collection there is the ‘De losse spaander’ section with woodcarving. This gives the visit a second material as its subject. It is a good opportunity to notice the different ways in which handicraft builds up relief and ornament.
A seasonal afternoon in Barneveld
The regular visiting time is Wednesday afternoon, during the season from February to November. Groups of ten or more can make appointments outside those hours. Sundays and public holidays, and separately listed closing days, are exceptions to this.

Check the season dates. On 4 November 2026 the museum is closed to groups as well.
