Busts, coats of arms and a model of the castle offer different ways into the subject. A model shows different things than a portrait or an object. By comparing these forms, you stop the visit from becoming just a series of names.
Special everyday objects
The collection also includes royal-warrant plaques, car mascots and objects linked to members of the royal family. For such pieces, ask about the explanation of their origin and use; that is often where the difference between curiosity and history lies.
A limited weekly schedule
The museum has a season from April to October inclusive and is not open every day. On Thursday, visiting starts later than on the other open days. Anyone wanting to come with a group or guide must arrange this in advance.
