Text becomes material
The printing house works with lead and wooden type. Look at their shape and size and ask how they are brought together into a text. Here, a word is not just something to read, but also a collection of individual parts.
The press at work
During a demonstration you can follow the connection between the set material and the printing. Pay attention to the order of the actions and to what is done by hand. That suddenly makes a seemingly ordinary page much less self-evident.
Tuesday or Cultural Sunday
The regular visiting times are Tuesday afternoon and the first Sunday of the month during the Doesburg Cultural Sunday. A different arrangement may be possible for groups. Check for a special programme before coming for a demonstration.
