Subjects such as basket weaving and cheesemaking give the crafts section different emphases. For an unfamiliar tool, ask which step in the work it was used for. This gives a full collection more coherence than simply walking past the objects.
Toys seen differently
The toy section offers a different way of recognising and comparing. Look not only at whether you know something, but also at how it was played with. Together with children, you can discuss what actions a piece of toy asks of the player.
Check Sunday first
Different schedules circulate for Sunday. The opening hours page lists all Sundays from April to September, while a more limited arrangement is given elsewhere. Have a Sunday visit confirmed for this reason; separate exceptions also apply around public holidays.
