Animals and their environment
Ice-age mammals such as mammoth and rhinoceros are among the subjects. When looking at fossils, look not only at the animal but also at the information about where it was found. This makes it clearer why a find is shown in a regional museum in particular.
Learning to read the landscape
Push moraines and river dunes offer a different way in than the animals. The presentation makes connections with soil and landscape and also covers archaeological traces. For children, activities involving digging up bones and flint are mentioned; ask about what is currently on offer.
Holiday Saturday or an ordinary Wednesday
The regular visiting afternoons are Wednesday and Sunday. Saturday is a regular visiting day only during school holidays. There is also an extensive list of public holiday closures and exceptions; so check more than just the day of the week.
