A rock can be beautiful, but it also raises questions about how it was formed. The collection distinguishes between different types of rock. Use the explanations to connect visible features with the process described alongside them.
Fossils and minerals
Give these two parts their own attention. A fossil calls for different questions than a mineral: exactly what are you looking at, and what information is known about it? The museum also organises talks and activities for further depth.
A planned afternoon
The building has a stairlift. Anyone wanting to attend a talk must register for it; an ordinary museum visit does not require that as standard. Note the special closure on Sunday 27 September 2026 because of the Posbankloop, in addition to the list of public holidays.
