In the abbots’ room, the museum shows a film with a digital reconstruction of the monastery. Look not only at the buildings but also at the spaces between them. Which courtyard, corridor or passage helps you understand how the whole complex was laid out?
Take the reconstruction outside
With the Aduard 3D app you can walk through the village on your own and take a virtual look through the monastery. The museum website states that the app works best outdoors. At each stop, compare the present-day street with the digital form: which trace is still visible, and which part does the reconstruction have to fill in for you?
From museum to church and garden
On the guided tour, a visit to the present-day abbey church follows on from the museum’s story. Behind the museum there are also a tea garden and herb garden, as well as a reconstructed brick kiln. Notice how three forms of presentation — building, digital reconstruction and laid-out garden — each show something different.

If you want to do the 3D walk, bring a charged phone. Group visits are possible all year round by appointment; the regular schedule varies by season.
