The foundation behind the museum collects and shares photographs, documents and stories about Nieuweschans. In the museum, choose one image or object and ask not only what it shows, but also who thought it important enough to keep.
Take one question outside with you
By appointment, the organisation offers guided tours of the fortress. While indoors, formulate one specific question about a street, building or trace that you want to find again outside. That way the walk becomes an extension of the museum rather than a separate stroll around the village.
Compare display case and digital archive
Alongside the museum, the foundation is building a digital archive of historical photographs and documents. After your visit, search online for the same place or subject. Which information fits well with the museum object, and which new question arises precisely from the comparison?
Before you go
The regular opening is short: two hours each afternoon. For a guided tour or a visit at another time, you must make an appointment in advance.
