Recognition begins with a cover
The foundation describes a collection of old and more recent Dutch-language children’s books. Perhaps you will recognise a title, an illustration or a typeface before you remember the story. Use that recognition as a starting point and then see what you had forgotten about the book.
A collection in use
Temporary exhibitions highlight parts of the collection. The house also describes a lending collection and the sale of certain duplicate copies. Ask which books you can consult or borrow: a book in a display is not automatically available to take home.
Compare two ways of telling a story
If the available material allows, choose two books for roughly the same age group. Look at the balance between text and pictures. What does each book expect of its reader? You do not need to be an expert to notice differences in tone and form.
