Look for where walls, passages and differences in height mark out the former rooms. A map helps you see scattered stone remains as a coherent castle again.
Paintings in marl
Underground, paintings and inscriptions catch the eye. During the guided tour, ask about dating, maker and maintenance, so that different periods do not merge into a single story.
Two routes, two rhythms
The ruin has its own admission times and the cave works with guided tours. Plan the two parts separately and allow for slopes, stairs, temperature and waiting time.
Before you go
There is no fixed weekly schedule: times and cave tours vary by date. Check the calendar and book a time slot. During the Christmas period the Fluweelengrot may serve as a Christmas market.
