Start with what lies beneath
Rocks and flint show the material with which the region was formed and worked. With finds, look for the find spot and layer before you estimate their age.
Regional painters look back
Compare a landscape painting with the geological explanation downstairs. Note which features are recognisable and where an artist changes colour, light or composition.
A building as part of the collection
The former town hall uses marl and Art Nouveau forms. Look at the façade and interior as an extra museum object and distinguish architectural facts from the later museum fit-out.
