Technology with a purpose
The diesel engine is one of the museum’s features mentioned. Look at it together with the explanation of water management: that way the machine is not detached from the work for which it is discussed in the presentation. Maps can help bring the surrounding area into the picture.
A possible demonstration
According to the water board, the engine is regularly started during opening days. That does not mean it runs whenever you want. Ask on arrival or in advance about a demonstration if it matters for your visit. When making a group request, also mention your interest in the technology.
A limited season
Regular access is on the last Sunday of the month, from April to September. Outside that schedule, group excursions are available on request, but availability outside the season is uncertain. So have any arrangement confirmed, and ask about the accessibility of the pumping station if necessary.
