Letting an image work
Look at a cartoon first without immediately reading all the explanation. What stands out, and at what moment does your interpretation change? With your own reaction as a starting point, you can then explore how the image is built up.
Background on the maker
A guide and a film help you get to know the artist and his work better. Use the commentary to discover differences between works. You do not need to understand every reference straight away to see how an image can evoke a thought.
Always an appointment
The daytime hours given are not open walk-in times. Even for an individual visit you make an appointment in advance; for the weekend, always phone. Access is via a staircase and is not wheelchair accessible. Payment is in cash, preferably the exact amount.
Before you go
Make an appointment in advance. Bear in mind the stairs, cash payment and the fact that the Museumkaart (Dutch museum pass) is not accepted.
