Start with the box bed and see how it is placed within the room. Compare this space with the best parlour: what does the furnishing draw your attention to? Looking at the rooms side by side gives the interior more meaning than a random collection of furniture.
Statues from the village
The saints’ room contains religious statues, including some from the Laurentiuskerk. Read what provenance is explained and look at posture and attributes. You do not need to recognise the figures straight away to notice differences between the statues.
Space for an exhibition
Alongside the rooms there is an exhibition hall. Ask about the presentation on the day of your visit; the exhibition on the Dondersteen van Oud Gastel has been announced until 9 October 2026 inclusive. The archive and library also give you a reason to bring a specific local research question.
