Looking before and after the film
Start with the restoration film and take one question with you to the carriages. What is said about the choices made during the restoration? A gleaming end result does not in itself show how much research or work went into it; the explanation provides more context.
Form and use
Compare two carriages on layout, wheels and the place for the passengers. Ask what function each vehicle had. You do not need to know technical terms to spot differences and then listen to the explanation more attentively.
