Names on the shelves
Product names such as Kwatta and Engelsch zout offer starting points for conversation. You may recognise some names; others call for explanation. Read what is on a package and ask what the product was used for, rather than going by appearance alone.
Shop windows as displays
Themed window displays give parts of the shop inventory extra attention. Ask which theme is featured at the time of your visit. A quiet viewing makes it possible to see small details that would easily escape your attention in a busy shop.
