At home and at school
Compare the furnishings of the kitchen with those of the classroom. Which activities belong to each room, and how is that made visible? A familiar room can also contain unfamiliar objects; ask what they were used for.
Work beyond the living room
Trades and agricultural objects widen the story to include work. Choose one tool and find out where it is placed within the display. This links the rooms to the tasks that were part of village life.
A new reason to come back
Alongside the collection there are temporary exhibitions. Ask which subject is currently the focus and, if you like, start your route there. The heemschuur has short seasonal opening periods; it pays to decide in advance what you most want to see.
Before you go
Go by the second and fourth Sunday of the month, according to the local history society; other days are circulating elsewhere. Outside the season, get in touch first.
