The damask collection features a wide range of subjects, from plants and animals to historical or religious scenes. Look at how the pattern emerges in the weave, then read the information. The material sometimes calls for a different viewing distance than a painting.
From factory to art
The industrial background of the building gives the textiles a fitting setting. Changing modern exhibitions add a different perspective. Take both parts on their own terms, rather than treating them as one continuous historical story.
A changeover can mean closure
The regular visiting days are Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday. During an exhibition changeover, however, the museum is closed. So check the current exhibition and the hours, especially if you are travelling specifically for a particular subject or artist.
