Collection and museum are not the same
A loan remains linked to a collector or institution, while the display takes place elsewhere. So first find out where a particular object can be seen or consulted.
Viewing at the Rijksmuseum
Works in the museum galleries are subject to the Rijksmuseum’s normal admission conditions. The society’s name does not give separate access and does not guarantee that every part of the collection is on display.
Research by appointment
The study room offers a different kind of access from a tour of the museum. Requests must be made in advance; they are assessed to determine which material is available and how it can be consulted.
Before you go
Confirm the location and conditions with the institution that holds the items. Do not go to the secretariat’s address expecting to visit an independent museum there without an appointment.
