The former Oude Mannen- en Vrouwenhuis (old people’s home) is no neutral museum shell. Look at the corridors, rooms and church hall, and ask how administration, residence and faith come together in the floor plan.
Regents and furnishings
Furniture, portraits and silver make governance and representation visible. Compare an everyday object with a regents’ portrait and notice who does and does not appear in the picture.
Art within deaconry heritage
Work by Breenbergh and Ruysdael, among others, broadens the collection. For each painting, read how it came to be in the house before linking it to the history of the residents.
