The engine block as a system
Cylinders, valves and drive become easier to understand when an engine is running. First look at the stationary parts, then follow the sound, movement and lubrication during start-up.
The A-frame on Sunday
The A-frame engine is scheduled to run at around 13.00 on third Sundays. Staff shortages can prevent it from being started; an open museum therefore does not guarantee a running demonstration.
Workshop and shipping
Tools and engines show a factory tradition linked to inland navigation and shipbuilding. For one machine, ask what type of vessel and what power output it was intended for.
Before you go
Tuesday 10.00–15.30 and third Sunday 12.00–16.00; engines are no longer started some time before closing time.
