Look at the direction of the windows, the easel and where the models were placed. Ask which furnishings have been reconstructed from inventories and which objects date from Rembrandt’s time but did not belong to him.
Etching step by step
During demonstrations, plate, ink and press become visible in relation to each other. Follow one print from scratch to paper and note where mirror image and press printing determine the result.
Pigment becomes paint
A paint demonstration shows how raw material and binder together form a painting material. Compare the colour before and after mixing without attributing a specific use to Rembrandt without a source.
