Looking at the building too
A stolp farmhouse (stolpboerderij) is not just a place for objects. As you walk round, notice the layout and the relationship between living and working. Ask how the rooms were used, so that the furnishings become more than a collection of separate items.
A profound village story
The exhibition about the emergency village ‘Hollywood’ covers the history of Callantsoog’s evacuation during the war. Take your time with the explanation. The subject sets a very different emphasis from the ordinary daily activities in the farmhouse.
A short afternoon opening
In the season the museum has a limited visiting window in the afternoon. The ground floor is listed as wheelchair accessible, the upper floor is not. On special village days there are sometimes longer hours, but these must be checked separately.
