Tools of a craft
The presentation covers the history of the painter’s trade. Look at materials and tools and ask what tasks they were used for. This reveals the difference between a finished surface and the work that precedes it.
Look elsewhere in the village too
Painting techniques and decoration are not confined to one shop. Use the explanations as a prompt to look out for painted details as you continue your walk. Demonstrations are mentioned on summer Saturdays; check the current programme for these.
The outdoor season is decisive
The Schilderswinkel has no year-round opening of its own. It follows access to ’t Zuiderzeedorp, which in 2026 is open up to and including 25 October. The Schathuys remains accessible for longer, but does not contain this museum location.
