The large floor map gives the villages, polders and the Amstel a spatial dimension. Choose one place and follow how water appears as both a lifeline and a defence.
An eleventh-century coffin
The little coffin calls for precise explanation of its discovery, dating and use. Look at its material and size, and do not fill in the personal story yourself.
Deaconry cottages
The location suits the theme Arm en Rijk (Poor and Rich). Notice the small rooms and the original care function, and ask which fittings were added later for the museum.
