A machine with a task
The engine room offers a way into the question of how a polder pumping station works. On a confirmed visit, you can follow the explanation of the installation and ask which parts reveal their former function. Do not assume there will be a working demonstration.
Living at the pumping station too
The engineer’s house belongs architecturally to the complex and is built in the Amsterdam School style. The house is not open to the public. So view it as part of the exterior of the pumping station, not as an additional museum space.
Check access first
Both summer Sundays and a reopening in July 2027 are mentioned. Neither offers enough certainty for a visit at present. Have the manager confirm whether you are welcome and which rooms are accessible before you travel to the Molendijk.
