Keeping and using
The village chest raises questions about what people kept collectively; the cheese press about a specific process. Read the explanation for both and look at their shape. That way you can compare function and meaning without knowing all the local history beforehand.
Handicraft and moving images
Pottery, carpentry tools and needlework broaden the picture. In the film room the past comes to life, including through footage of the Oranjefeesten (Orange festivities). A film clip tells a story differently from an everyday object: give both some attention.
A theme in the cellar
The cellar has a themed exhibition that may change. Ask what is on show now and how it connects with the village. This gives the small museum route an extra subject alongside the permanent collection.
