Objects from the job
Firefighting equipment calls for an explanation of how it was operated and used. Look at what someone had to hold, connect or carry and ask what task went with it. That way you can understand even an unfamiliar piece of equipment.
Photographs provide a setting
The regional photographs complement the objects with places and situations. Look for the connection the museum makes between an image and the equipment on display. This makes the Zaan background more concrete than just a general history of firefighting.
An evening visit
The regular time for the public is Monday evening. That differs from the usual afternoon museum outing. Outside those hours, an appointment can be arranged; if you are a group or have a specific question, let them know in advance what you are coming for.
