The work behind a barrel
The complete workshop contains tools, machines and barrels from the S.R. Tiemstra & Zonen cooperage. Together they form a setting in which a craft can be explained. The meaning lies in the connection between material, action and end product.
A preserved workplace
The collection is linked to the last cooper, Jaap Tiemstra. It is therefore more than a few odd old tools. Which parts will be accessible or demonstrated after reopening has yet to be announced.
Old opening times do not mean access
Some guides still list a weekly schedule. That conflicts with the current closure notice from the Zaanse Schans. Do not rely on such hours if you want to combine a visit to this particular workshop with other venues.
