The fibre as a starting point
Rush mats and materials such as coir, sisal and jute are part of the subject. Look at how the museum’s explanation links the material to the end product. Are shape and structure still recognisable once a fibre has become part of a mat?
The Machinehal
Historic weaving machines form an important part of the presentation. During a demonstration, you can see movements that are hard to follow in a machine standing still. Ask in advance when an explanation or a working machine can be experienced.
Discovering the structure for yourself
The museum also describes education and workshops on knotting and weaving. These can help you better understand the pattern of a floor covering. They have their own availability and are not automatically included in every museum visit.
