A fossil calls for context
Fossils belong to a different kind of story than a polished gemstone. Read what the explanatory text says about the material found. It helps to distinguish between an object’s appearance and the information attached to it.
Breaking something open
The museum describes activities for children, including a treasure hunt and cracking open a geode. Ask which activity is available and how taking part works. An activity can be a reason to look again, more closely, at the shape of a crystal.
