A steam engine as a question
The collection as described includes a large steam engine. In the explanation, try to distinguish between the drive and the work a machine had to do. You do not need to know the parts beforehand to ask how they fit together.
From textiles to communication
Textile technology, electrical engineering and telecommunications are among the collecting areas. This lets you compare very different applications. What information or movement is transmitted, and what does the user notice of it in the end product?
Try something yourself
Making activities and hands-on elements offer a different way in from just looking. Ask which activities are available on the day of your visit. After trying something out, choose a museum object that involves the same action; that way, doing and explanation are connected.
