Through the gate
Look at the passageway, doors and vertical structure, and ask how traffic could be let through or stopped. The architecture reveals both representation and control.
Upward through the building
The floors give views of the construction and the city. Watch out for stairs and floor beams; a medieval gate does not follow a modern museum route.
The gatekeeper’s tales
Payment and reception take place on the first floor. Oral stories add colour, but historical details should still be linked to the building or documentation.

Tuesday is only open during school holidays. Groups can arrange other times; ask in advance about access to the first floor and the facilities available.
