Models of the bargemen’s village around 1915 and today make change comparable. Find the bridge, quay or yard in both versions and note what disappeared or changed function.
Construction and propulsion inside
The exhibition centre covers ship types, tools and technical development. For one tool, record which craftsman used it and on which part of a ship.
Outside, the yard keeps working
Historic working vessels are maintained on the side slipway (dwarshelling). Respect work zones and ask which ships are museum pieces, operational heritage vessels or customer commissions.
Before you go
Friday is not a regular museum day; the monthly Schipperscafé is a separate event. Book guided tours at least two weeks in advance.
