A workshop as a way in
A reconstructed Lipperhey workshop makes the subject concrete. See which techniques and tools are explained. It is not only about looking through a telescope, but also about how such an instrument is made.
Comparing old telescopes
Antique telescopes offer a second way in. Note the differences in shape and operation and ask what development they illustrate. A presentation or evening programme may complement the museum sections; check what is on offer on your date.
Planning an evening visit
The regular opening starts on Friday evening. In July and August, Wednesday evenings are also mentioned, with a different start time. No fixed end time is stated. Ask in advance about booking, duration and whether you will actually be able to look at the stars.
Before you go
Check the evening programme, booking and end time. The current visitor address is Helm 3.
